The most important reggae artist of all time, bar none. He first began recording in 1961, forming the Wailin' Wailers in 1964 and scoring a number of Jamaican hits prior to his departure to America in 1966. Bob returned the following year to set up the Wailin' Soul label aswell as reforming the Wailers with Pete Tosh and Bunny Wailer.
He signed with Island in 1972 but it was Eric Clapton's cover of 'I Shot The Sheriff' two years later that put Bob Marley in the spotlight. By the end of the decade Marley was a worldwide superstar and had made reggae a hugely popular genre. Bob Marley did not live to see how successful he'd become, dying from cancer in 1981.
This album features twenty classic early recordings, including some wonderful versions of his live favourites 'Soul Rebel', 'Soon Come' and 'Stop The Train'.
